New Baby in the Family

New Family Member. On the 17th of November, my mother found this lovely kitten under a trailer in Pasco county (about an hour away). He was a mess. She was visiting a patient and the patient's son didn't have any luck getting the cat out of from under the trailer. Mom crouched down and said "here kitty kitty" and he walked right into her hands. She was 1 hour away from home and she had lots of other appointments that day. She put him in a box and drove all the way back to St. Petersburg. She called me to pick him up after the Vet was through, while she went to Dunedin for another visit.

Tommy came home that night and we fell in love. His name is Tommy Pasco Arasmo. Tommy because he looks (and acts) like my old buddy, Tommy. He was my 17 year old cat who died a couple years ago. I miss him a lot and have been thinking about him lately. He was brilliant, very dog and human like personality. The second name "Pasco" is for his being found in Pasco county Florida. And the third name is our last name.

Tommy had some trauma probably from the asses who threw him away which didn't appear until two days ago. He needed emergency surgery for an abdominal hernia and now he's recuperating. He's doing really well, but he's bored and he's got an e-ring on so he doesn't take out the tube and stitches. Tab so far: 770.00. Actually it's a ton of money, but it's part of the deal. My daughter also had a birth defect, a hernia which required about a 800,000 in costs (covered by my then 700.00 a month private pay plan in 1999.) So Mani, my daughter, relates very well with Tommy. He likes to sleep on her blanket when she's in school.

We are rubbing his head a lot to keep him comfy and he's calm. He's purring and kisses us a lot. Kissing is licking and pressing his nose against us. He's awesome!

The photo was taken last week.

Bless you all for taking in this baby and helping. I know all too well how it feels to be in this situation. We hve taken in so many strays through the years of all species. It is a rewarding thing to do, though quite heartbreaking at times. And you get so mad at so many heartless people dumping babies on their own!

I have been reading over your blog and intend to add it to my sidebar with a permanent link. Thank you again for being the caring soul that you are.

Give Tommy Pasco Arasmo a kiss from Laura and me. And we will give Feisty one from you. :)
